Online bookmarks and mail addresses
Global options

JBoom stores the options in the file specified during installation. Default is the file jboomrc.xml in the user's home directory.

Sort
Choose if jBoom shall arrange subfolders before bookmarks when sorting a folder, and whether or not subfolders shall be sorted as well (recursively).
Local file
Path of a file on the client where a local copy of the bookmarks will be stored. The file doesn't have to exist. Note: If you leave the field empty, no local copy will be created. If there is no active connection, but a local file, the local file takes the role of the active connection. In this case the LED in the toolbar shows an orange light. If there is neither an active connection nor a local file, the LED shows a red light to warn you that your bookmarks can't be saved anywhere.
Browser
This field is only present if jBoom has been started as a program. You can enter a command here which starts a browser with a given URL (or lets a running browser go to the correspondig page). Where a URL is expected in the command string, insert the sequence ${URL} as a place holder. JBoom will replace it by the chosen URL. On systems knowing the concept of "standard browser" the field should be left empty. JBoom then tries to start the default browser. If that doesn't work as expected, see chapter Browser and mail.
Mailer
Here the mail program can be specified. On systems knowing the concept of "standard mailer" the field should be left empty. If problems arise, see chapter Browser and mail.
Start minimized
The program is started in minimzed (iconified) mode. If you want to use jBoom mainly using the system tray menu, check this option and the following as well.
System tray
This option causes jBoom to insert an icon into the system tray at start (or when it is iconified). The tray menu provides a particularly easy way to use jBoom, see here.
Remember position
If this option is selected, the origin and dimension of the program are saved in the system at exit and restored at the next start. Without it, the window appears in the upper left corner with a standard size.
Name from title
If this box is checked, the name of a newly created bookmark will be preset with the page's title. This is what most browsers do. However, as it requires an additional load of the page, it may cause a noticeable delay. Whithout this option, jBoom constructs an initial name from the URL itself.
Ask before saving
If this box is checked, jBoom will ask the user before an automatic upload takes place (e.g., when the program exits). If the box is not checked, changes are saved without asking.
